PAQUET

About

Welcome to paquet, a social club. This site proves a concept:

"Can someone with barely any coding experience and limited SysAdmin skills build a fast, minimalist, and beautiful microblogging platform?"

Turns out, with the help of an LLM indentured servant to help check the code, yes!

Paquet is written in Go, which apparently is fast. The site also has no database, because why not just store everything in text files? Paquet does not use JavaScript, because Luke Smith said in a video once that it is soy. The site also does not log IP addresses or sell your data. It uses a session cookie to keep you logged in, and then it deletes that when you close your browser.

Like all walled gardens, the creator can do whatever he wants inside of it (pluck weeds, for example), but he does not have the time to tend incessantly. He has put a few safeguards in place, but ultimately, people who go on the site accept all the consequences for using and posting on Paquet.

Does Paquet have enough network effect to become a major social media platform? Absolutely not. Are you a content creator looking to leverage this hot new platform to funnel people into your digital products? Wrong site. No one is making money off Paquet, not even its creator. But it was fun to build and try to create something more pure, with just text, no algorithms, no popularity contest. Each paquet speaks for itself.
